Development Management
The issues incorporated into the program include: an understanding of the different kinds of Power in the classroom and which are most effective, the management of a variety of inappropriate student behaviours, the cooperative establishment of classroom rules and regulations, and ways to encourage individual and collective student responsibility. The latter include hints, recognitions and rewards, assertive demands, one on one discussions and catering for the needs of the very challenging students. The program draws upon Professor Lewis’s research, his extensive knowledge of research literature, his experience as a teacher trainer, and his ongoing commitment as a secondary teacher, all delivered with humour, compassion and empathy for both teachers and students.
